We are back from The OpenStack Summit 2017 (held at Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA). What a great show! It included talks on numerous topics comprised of presentations, panels, workshops, and educational opportunities through OpenStack Academy. Topics spanned cloud strategy and business case development to operational best practices and technical deep dives. There were a lot of great attendees and companies plus a guest keynote – Edward Snowden.
Demo presentations were held every 30 minutes on the show floor where our own Matt Smith presented Datera, Cinder and Tenancy on Wednesday afternoon. Matt discussed use cases detailing the existing tenancy features in Cinder and how they work with the Datera Elastic Data Fabric backend.
The summit wasn’t just talks and workshops. Every afternoon at the Datera booth we held a drawing. During the Marketplace reception on Monday evening we raffled an Xbox One; Tuesday an Echo Dot and Wednesday an Echo Dot and Raspberry Pi.
And, on Tuesday evening at Fenway Park the official OpenStack Summit community party took place where there was World Series memorabilia and fun deserts in mini Red Sox caps. Not to mention being able to get up close to the “Green Monster.”
On Wednesday evening Datera held a customer/prospect/partner dinner at Legal Seafoods. It was a great evening of food, wine and conversation.
Now it’s back to following up with all the people we met at OpenStack Boston and looking forward to OpenStack Sydney in November.
Join us for an S.F. Bay Area Meetup on May 31st, OpenStack Deployment on IP Fabrics: Network and Storage Possibilities.
